At these interesting times while we are all at home many friends have asked me for mindful activities they can do with their kids. Let’s be more detailed, activities they could do to keep their kids out of their hair for a bit. Seeing as I am all about mindfulness and work-life integration here is one activity for the whole family.
In 2018 I released the book and online video training The Mindful Leader The Stress-Free Guide to Mindful Leadership. In that book, readers found a mindful practice for every letter of the alphabet and a coloring mandala. It is scientifically proven that coloring reduces our stress and increases our focus. I’ve been using these tools with adults in associations and corporations to bring mindful focus to business planning sessions, conventions, training and more.
Then, recently someone asked for a kid’s birthday activity and I gave them their kid’s initials as a party game. The kids loved it!
Today – I gift to you all the letters in the hopes parents, leaders and kids will print out the letters of their name, initials or company and take some time to think a positive word for each letter. Or spell out a word that inspires you and hang it in your home or office. L O V E anyone? There is no end to the mindful fun we can have. Post a message in your windows for your neighborhood to see.
Below you will find the letter on one block and a link to the .pdf download to print on a standard 8.5×11 page on the other column.
Please share your creations with me via social media.
Mindfully, one moment at a time we, the human family will get through these “interesting” times.
Let the coloring contest begin!
I look forward to your photo submissions on soical media. Use the #mindfulcoloring
