Friend The Now
“Make the present moment your friend rather than your enemy because many people live habitually as if the present moment were an obstacle that they need to overcome in order to get to the next moment. And imagine living your whole life like that, where always this moment is never quite right, not good enough because you need to get to the next one. That is continuous stress.” ~ Dan Harris
Our world is continuously teaching us that it’s better to be busy. If you aren’t stressed, there is something wrong with you. I say to those people, “Consider what would happen if doing life that way was wrong.” Today, look at your life. Where are you over-programming yourself, co-workers, or family? Is this really what you believe life must be? Take one commitment off your to-do list today, or this week. Watch what happens. You give yourself permission to live a little better, and a little less stressed. And the world goes on just fine. Don’t just take my word for it. Try it.
