According to gallup’s State of hte American Workplace study, 70 percent of people are disengaged from their jobs. That means they come tow orka nd do what they are supposed to do but they don’t have much heart into it. Since elementary school humans were conditioned to “division of church and state” that whatever heart/spirit/belief pattern they had on Sunday could not and should not come to work. We were taught to turn off our hearts.
Within that 70 percent, a little less tan 20 percent of peple, one in five, are actively disengaged. Meaning they are actively not only not creating success for the compnay but they are actively sabotaging the success of fellow employes and employers.
Gallup estimates this holds bacck the encomy, it costs the US between $450 and $550 billion in lost productivity each year. The social costs, are even harder to measure. Chronic illnesss accounts for 75 percent of the US health care costs. The greatest factor in this is chronic stress and illnesses related to chronic stress. This is causing workplaces to be unenjoyable, meaningless and dehumanizing.
