If I didn’t act on my intuition I would never have started this company, never written a book and I certainly would not write for an international magazine. I would not have moved to Colorado and I would not live the life I live today.

Today reflect on one of the time times I chose not to act on my intuition. Please take a moment and act on your intuition so this does not happen to you.

In a moment grief hit me. With the ease of a click of the mouse in a moment I saw it, I felt it, and I collapsed with grief. It was daily routine for me, checking Facebook. Only this time it was no routine. Staring back at me was the picture of a colleague I deeply admired.   He had been on my mind to call for the past few months and I never got to it.

What happened? Now I was looking at his beautiful energetic, light filled face surrounded by the words of an invitation to his memorial service. Corey was quite literally the face of an industry, 38 years old promising award winning leader in the meetings industry. Corey worked as the director of sales for the North Carolina Convention & Visitors bureau. A job that was more than a job, you just knew Corey loved welcoming people to his town. I feel honor to be among those who had that experience.

Intuition is found in the big things and the small. Intuition is part of the call to live a spiritual life. Corey was a man who acted on his intuition. You see I only met that man one time, back in 2013. I will never forget how he unconditionally helped me. Corey was love. We were painting together at one of those paint your own canvas classes. Corey looked around and realized as the speaker/facilitator I would have no way to get my precious painting home. I never even asked, Corey swooped up the painting and declared he would be sending it to my new home in Colorado. I can think of only a few times someone could see my need and respond before the need appeared. This was the kind of man Corey was. Every time I look at that ocean painting from land locked Colorado I think of Corey’s kindness. Now he has transitioned and I know the world will never know love in that way again. It will not know love from those two hands.

Corey was among the first to say “I want to buy your book when it comes out.” Reminding me the book had value and I had to complete it.

A few weeks ago I was reminded of this thoughtful generous act back in 2013. I meant to all Corey and connect. I was to busy. I never made that call.

Accepting the invitation to act on your intuition is not a decision with 50 shades of grey. It’s black and white. You either do it or you don’t.

While I am totally stunned to learn of Corey’s passing I know Corey would not want it to be about that. He would want his life to mean something. He would have called us to do a small act of kindness for another. So as you navigate another day listen, listen to your intuition and call someone and tell him or her you love them.
