Try – The Mandy Harvey Story

Mindful Monday:  Try to Feel – The Mandy Harvey Story

Did she really just say that in church?  Yes she did. “Holy crap buckets I get to sing at the Sydney opera house.”  You could feel the authenticity in the words and the giggle.  I think that was the second moment I fell deeply in love with the authentic Mandy Harvey.  In case you haven’t met her yet let me introduce you to a woman who will never give up.  Mandy is under contract with America’s got Talent for this current season.  Mandy is a barefoot 29-year-old deaf singer.  She lost her hearing due to a sickness.  Not giving up her dream, Mandy picks up the sound vibrations thru the floor and will capture your heart with her song  “Try”.

America’s Got Talent – Mandy Harvey
What do you feel when you approach a challenge?  A few weeks after seeing AGT, I was able to see Mandy speak live.  What I learned is a woman deeply, comfortable, and mindful about feeling her feelings and sharing them with the world.  Mandy’s willingness to feel the fear and go forward anyway makes her mindful leaders to watch.

Mandy puts her feet on the ground, feels vibrations and reaches for the stars.  Mandy said “My passion, the whole reason why I sing, is so that I can say, ‘Hey, this is what I’ve done; I really hope that I can encourage you to do the same.”

She asks in her talk – What feeling do you feed your soul with? She wants to feed the soul of the world with good music.

Inspired by Mandy what will you feel this week?  This week try feeling your feelings.  If she can feel music and sing music from vibrations in the floor what can you feel?

Here is a list to get you started

Peace Joy Love
Acceptance Willingness Courage
Anger Fear Grief

Instead of an affirmation this week I leave with the lyrics to her song:

I don’t feel the way I used to
The sky is grey much more than it is blue
But I know one day I’ll get through
And I’ll take my place again
So I will try
So I will try

I don’t love the way I need to
You need more and I know that much is true
So I’ll fight for our breakthrough
And I’ll breathe in you again If
I would try
If I would try

There is no one for me to blame
cause I know the only thing in my way Is me
I don’t live the way I want to
That whole picture never came into view

And I’m tired of getting used to The day
So I will try
So I will try
Yep, I will try If I would try

Try, was her first song as a song writer.  It came as a dare from a blind friend to do what scared her most, song writing. That song is now the theme song for the friend’s foundation for the blind that works with blind mountain climbers to summit mountains both literally and figuratively.  It also inspired the world on AGT.

Holy crap buckets, what are you dreaming for your life?  Are you brave enough to feel your feelings in a world that holds us back?  Mandy overcame loss of hearing to become a sought after singer and competitor on America’s Got Talent.  What do you want to become?

Write me! Let me know what you are feeling this week and what you would like to be feeling. I look forward to hearing from you!

Mindfulness matters, make it a great week!
