Today the word was “drag”. “Holly, my association is dragging and not going anywhere.” Yesterday the call was “stagnant”. “Holly, how do I get my organization to be willing to move?”
Here are 6 keys to being the association of the future:
F – Follow governance because it is simple it is there to help you.
U – Understand vision as the core of where your association is going
T – Trust each other as staff and board
U – Unite action as a board and organization. Know that small actions lead to the larger goal
R – Release all that is holding your organization back
E – Expect great things and appreciate each step along the way
Rate your organization on a scale of 1-10 in each of these areas with one being “we never do this” or “have no knowledge of what this is or how to do it” and 10 being “we do this perfectly”. Then make your list and start checking of the lowest skills first. There is an old adage that says, “Its evolution not revolution in associations.” What Leadership Solutions knows to be true right now is that you cannot afford to be slow. Associations of the future grab their ipad2’s shoot a video, post it, tweet it, and measure its impact before others have opened the old policy manual.
